One picture with white people shoulder deep in water trying to survive has the following caption:
Two residents wade through chest-deep water after finding bread and soda from a local grocery store after Hurricane Katrina came through the area in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The 2nd picture, with a black youth in the same situation, has the following caption:
A young man walks through chest deep flood water after looting a grocery store in New Orleans on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005.
So, according to AP, Black=Loot and White = find. Got it.

Clarification: The first picture was from AFP, not AP, so while I can be critical of the looting term, I cannot accuse AP of outright duplicity. Thanks to Kip Esquire for catching that.
